Each session at Deanna Carell Acupuncture is designed for the individual patient’s needs and may change during the course of treatment. First visits usually take an hour and a half and are longer than follow up treatments which take approximately one hour. In the first visit, we will go through your health history and goals for your acupuncture treatment. I practice a Japanese style of acupuncture which treats the patient laying face up for about half of the visit and then again lying face down for the second half of the session. Additional modalities to treatment can be included depending on the patient’s needs.

These modalities include:

  • cupping
  • gua sha
  • tui na
  • moxibustion
  • electric stimulation (ESTIM)
  • infrared heat lamp

In order to ensure a successful first appointment:

  • please fill out and bring with you the two documents below or arrive 10 minutes before your appointment to fill out forms
  • wearing comfortable, loose clothing so I can access your arms, legs and back or bring a change of clothes
  • arrive neither starved nor stuffed, I recommend a snack or meal one to two hours before your treatment
  • drink plenty of water
