Microneedling, or Collagen Induction Therapy (CT), is a minimally invasive treatment that works on many skin conditions, including acne scars and wrinkles. This treatment, offered in our office, is performed by highly trained Acupuncturists who have studied, practiced, and perfected the art of naturally healing skin. Our patients find that microneedling is safe and effective on all skin types – oily, dry, normal and a combination of the three.
How Does Microneedling Work?
Unlike laser therapy that can burn or scrape the skin, microneedling gently establishes controlled micro traumas to the area being treated, enabling a higher production of collagen and elastin, which is vital for skin health. While these micro traumas open the pores for better breathability, they also generate microchannels which allow for 200% greater product absorption.
When used as recommended, Microneedling can treat a plethora of skin conditions including acne scars, fine lines and wrinkles, skin laxity, pore size, uneven texture, tone, or color, stretch marks, traumatic scars, hyperpigmentation and more.
Does Microneedling Hurt?
Our office takes pride in making our patients as comfortable as possible. Before treatment begins, a topical anesthetic will be applied to the affected area. Patients will not experience any pain or discomfort while the treatment is taking place.
After treatment has been received, patients typically experience redness, like that of a sunburn, over the treated area. This will dissipate 24-48 hours (about 2 days) after treatment has been administered, depending on the patient’s particular skin type. During the appointment, each patient will receive a handout explaining after-care guidelines and product recommendations.
How often Do I Need To Receive Treatments?
Treatment regularity is consistent with the patient’s commitment to healing. Our office recommends treatment every 4-6 weeks (about 1 and a half months) to receive the best results. During your consultation, a treatment plan will be discussed that will include your unique treatment goals and frequency of recommended appointments.
